William Whitaker's Words
WORDS is an automated Latin dictionary. The software provides definitions and morphologies (gender, case, tense, mood, etc.) for approximately 20,000 Latin words. WORDS runs on DOS, Windows 95/NT/98/ME/2000/XP, Linux and FreeBSD, OS/2, and Mac OS X systems as a console program.
Colonel William A. Whitaker (USAF-Retired) passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010.[4] While at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), he worked on the computer language ADA. In retirement, he created the Latin-English translation software program, "Whitaker's Words".
